This study is pending publication in a highly respected peer-reviewed medical journal. In a recent multi-center, crossover, double-blind study, AMES showed improved impairments in stroke patients. There have already been in depth clinical studies. The Food and Drug Administration has approved AMES effectiveness with the coveted (and expensive) 510k certification. The market for robotic rehabilitation devices exceeds $5B. AMES technology has been proven effective in restoring mobility, strength, range of motion and sensation, even when other protocols have failed. AMES is a patented, FDA 510(k)-cleared, robotic rehabilitative exercise technology that has been clinically proven in over 400 patients to improve movement and functionality of patients’ arms, wrists, hands, fingers, legs, ankles and toes. I am not a part of the iotech-AMES company in any way but you might call me their cheerleader since I am so passionate about recovery for ‘stroke warriors.”ĪMES™ (Assisted Movement with Enhanced Sensation) technology is iotech’s first commercially ready market offering. I credit the AMES robotic device with this recovery. I must admit the first time I was able to go to the downstairs part of my house and back up I just cried! I had not seen my downstairs in 6 years.

I used the device on both my leg and arm and as a result my gait greatly improved and for the first time in 6 years I could navigate full flights of stairs. The mechanical vibration is much different, and I believe much more effective in treating my brain than saebo, bioness or others that use e-stim technology. Long story, but the device, AMES, combines biofeedback, mechanical vibration and movement for both legs and arms. Our local Bend hospital agreed to take this device in their out patient clinic for use by me and other patients. I accidently heard about a very innovative rehab device that is still in the proto type phase of development. SAO is dedicated to FAST and recovery education. I also co-founded a local non profit STROKE AWARENESS OREGON, with a local neurologist. Fortunately the local hospital has supported me with their out-patient programs, Today I still do OT,PT AND FELDENCRAIS, all several times a week. My journey has been similar to many, lots of hard work and I have literally tried any therapy that I thought might help me.
